Results of beard, moustache and sideburn transplants performed in our clinic.
A beard does not grow back the way the scalp does. The implanted hairs shed within the first weeks, regrowth then begins between the sixth and the twelfth week, and the result can be judged around the ninth to twelfth month. The grafts are chosen one by one, single-hair units, and implanted at ten degrees so that the hair lies against the skin rather than standing away from it. They come from the donor area at the back of the scalp: they keep its rate of growth, and are trimmed like the rest of the beard.
