Surgical protocol

This 37-year-old patient had never been operated on before. Hair calibre, donor density and the hair-per-follicular-unit ratio were measured before the graft count was settled.

Harvesting was done with a 0.70 mm punch, manual and motorised. The incisions are coronal, made with custom blades averaging 0.75 mm. 4,086 grafts were implanted.

The photographs below follow the result in chronological order: the end of surgery, the third week, then the fifth month.

The crusts have gone. The transplanted hairs will now shed almost entirely, before regrowing from the third month: the necessary passage that the fifth-month photographs bring to a close.
