Protecting hair grafts from damage for better results with the KEEP technique

KEEP is the latest innovation in the field of FUE hair transplantation (follicular unit extraction). It is a micro-surgical instrument used to carry out the implantation of the grafts harvested during a hair transplant. KEEP was developed by Dr Koray Erdogan, vice-president of the FUE Institute. Made of stainless steel, KEEP comes in different sizes so as to handle grafts of varying characteristics and dimensions.

The KEEP instrument answers post-treatment problems of graft bending and damage caused by the use of forceps for implantation. It has been observed that after long hours of surgery, grafts ran a greater risk of being damaged by hair surgeons and their teams while being handled with forceps, and that this damage could also occur when choosing the optimal implantation angle of the grafts in the micro-incisions made beforehand to receive them. Since forceps are handled like tweezers, excessive pressure can easily damage the grafts, something that cannot happen with the KEEP instrument, into which grafts are loaded without any pressure being applied.

The advantages of the KEEP technique

Patients can enjoy the benefits of the KEEP technique in any type of hair transplant. That said, the results are particularly good in patients with thick skin and a tendency to bleed easily. The technique is also highly effective when it comes to handling fragile hair grafts. Because the KEEP instrument is easier to handle than forceps, implantation of the grafts is faster, which shortens the length of the transplant, and that is particularly welcome in procedures involving a very large number of grafts.

Without damage or abnormal bending, hair regrowth is better and faster than after a transplant performed with forceps.
