Causes of pubic hair loss

The most common causes of hair loss in the pubic area are similar to those of hair loss on the head. Genetic conditions and hormonal changes can cause sudden loss of pubic hair. The menopause, for example, is a period of many changes in a woman's body, and the loss of pubic hair is one of the symptoms. Can anything be done about it?

The procedure

The consultations preceding surgery will have set out a detailed hair restoration plan for the patient. A transplant of 1,500 to 2,000 grafts generally takes an afternoon of surgery, 4 to 6 hours, so hair restoration of the pubic area can be shorter, with an approximate average of 1,000 grafts transplanted in women. During the transplant, local anaesthetic is given to numb the donor area as well as the pubic area. The follicles are extracted from the donor area with 1 mm of surrounding tissue.
