How to deal with hair loss when it becomes a problem for you

Everyone sheds 50 to 100 hairs a day. When more come out in certain areas, or the hairline recedes, it is time to look more closely at what is happening.

Everyone sheds 50 to 100 hairs a day on average, but when more hairs come out in certain areas, or the hairline recedes, it is time to look at this more closely.

Hair loss affects a great many people. Most men lose their hair with age and through the action of androgenetic alopecia, whose hereditary character is hard to avoid. Although the problem is more common and earlier in men, women too are affected by hair loss and thinning. Women can lose their hair through genetic factors as well, but triggers different from those in men can set hair loss off: hormonal imbalance, weight loss, stress, medical conditions, certain drugs and vitamin deficiencies.

Hair loss tends to cause a degree of discomfort about one's appearance. It does not, however, happen overnight. If the problem concerns you, it matters to choose a suitable treatment. Drug treatments can be prescribed to limit hair loss and stimulate regrowth, as can platelet-rich plasma injections. When hair loss has finished off the hair follicles in a given area of the head and that area is bare, specialists generally favour a hair transplant in Tunisia, the only treatment that can give a satisfactory result.

Follicular unit extraction (FUE)

The procedure consists of harvesting groups of one to four hairs from clusters of follicles called follicular units. Once harvested, these groups can be implanted in various areas of the scalp where hair loss has occurred. This technique harvests the follicular units individually, which minimises trauma to the donor area through the use of extremely fine instruments. It also allows patients to keep their hair short, with scars that become invisible after a short healing period.

Which treatment to ask for?

Where hair loss is concerned, there is no single approach that suits every case. The first step is to look for the cause of the hair loss by seeking the opinion of a specialist able to determine the best treatment plan. Results are always better when the problem is dealt with early. The good news is that there are now several ways of restoring thick, healthy hair.
